Ifeyinwa Arinze is a filmmaker from Nigeria, based in New York. Her work centers intimate portrayals of Black women and girls that are grounded in tenderness and care. Named a 2025 Berlinale Talent, her work has been supported by organizations such as BAFTA, NYWIFT and the Film at Lincoln Center’s Artist Academy. Her short films have been screened and exhibited at film festivals and institutions such as BAM, Palm Springs, BlackStar, Urbanworld, Harbourfront Centre, and the New York African Film Festival.
Her latest fiction short film, Breastmilk, an adaptation, had its world premiere at the 2025 Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival. It went on to win the 2025 Jury Award for Student Short Film at Aspen Shortsfest and Best Student U.S. Short at Palm Springs International ShortFest. Her previous film, August Visitor, was acquired by The Criterion Channel.
Ifeyinwa is developing her debut feature film, Scruples. It was selected for 2025 Berlinale Talents Script Station and the 2025 Locarno Residency, where it received the Grand Jury Prize. Ifeyinwa holds an MFA in Film from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She is a 2024 Princess Grace Award winner.
